Who is George Santos?

George Santos is a republican party member from New York. He was elected to represent New York’s 3rd congressional district in 2022. Gorge admitted to a laundry list of falsehoods about his ancestry, education, charity work, employment, and property ownership in December 2022. Santos was born on July 22, 1988, in Queens, New York. He claimed that his maternal grandparents were originally from Ukraine who fled to Belgium and then shifted to Brazil during World War II to escape the Holocaust. However, the records stated that his ancestors have been living in Brazil for three generations. There is no evidence found that shows his maternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors nor have a connection to Ukraine.

George has received a high school equivalency diploma. He studied at the elite preparatory school, Horace Mann. However, he had to withdraw from school during his senior year due to his parents’ poor financial condition. His mom used to work in a major financial situation. She also survived the September 11 attacks while working in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Santos claimed of holding Bachelor’s degree from Baruch College and a Master’s degree from New York University, which was later proved false.

George Santos initially served as a customer service representative at a call center. He even lied at that time by claiming that he belongs wealthy family and had real estate holdings in Brazil and U. S. Santos claimed that he has served for MetGlobal and worked for LinkBridge Investors in 2019. According to his campaign disclosure form, he also became a vice president of LinkBridge Investors.

Santos later became a regional director at Florida firm, Harbor City Capital. During the time, he was accused of running a $17 million Ponzi scheme. Santos was also the sole owner and managing member of Devolder Organization as per his financial disclosures. He stated that the organization was a family-owned company that used to manage $80 million in assets. George even stated Devoldeer of being a capital introduction consulting firm. The company was dissolved in 2022 after it failed to file annual reports.

Santos initially ran for the U. S. House of Representatives in New York’s third congressional district. He ran the election against Democrat, Thomas Suozzi and lost to him with a margin of approximately 46,000 votes. He again ran for the 3rd congressional district in 2022 against Democrat Robert Zimmerman. Both the candidates are openly ag ay and it was the first time when two openly LGBTQ members competed against each other in the general election.

George spent a large amount during his campaign and used the funds to pay for staff members’ shirts from Brooks Brothers. He also paid for staff’s meals at the restaurant at Bergdorf Goldman. Additionally, he paid for their airline faires and a stay at The Breakers. In November 2022 election, he finally defeated Zimmer by around 8% points. After the election, he became one of the several incoming House Republicans who attended a Manhattan gala which was organized by the New York Young Republican Club.

George Santos stated being openly gay and being married to someone during his congressional campaign. He stated of being married to a Brazilian native woman named Uadla Vieira until 2019. According to records, the pair was married in 2012. However, he failed to disclose his divorce from his ex-wife after he was accused of lying about his college education and professional career.

He also lied about his family escaping the Holocaust. Santos further described during the 2022 election cycle that he was married to his pharmacist husband. Despite his statement, there is no record found of his marriage to any pharmacist.

• He claimed to have graduated from Baruch College but the school was unable to find any records of having graduated in 2010.
• He also lied about working on Wall Street. His campaign bio says that he worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, but both companies had no record of his involvement.
• Santos also claimed that he founded an animal rescue organization. He states that he saved 2,500 dogs and cats between 2013 and 2018. However, the IRS couldn’t find any record of a registered charity.
