Early life

Miles Bridges was born in March 1998 in Flint, Michigan. He was born to Raymond and Cynthia Bridges. His dad, Raymond was a two-time basketball state champion. Miles was taught to play basketball by his father when he was two. He has a sister, Tara Rushing whom he mentions as one an integral part of his life.

Miles studied at the Woodland Park Academy for his middle school study. When he was 12, he along with coach Keith Gray and future high school teams participated at a local YMCA. While staying in his hometown of Flint, he played varsity basketball as a freshman with the Flint Southwestern Academy. Miles was 6 feet 4 at 14 years of age, and at that time he played as a center.

Bridges lead his team to the regional seminars making average scoring points of 10, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in each game.

Bridges then received an athletic scholarship from Oakland University. He was then transferred to Huntington Prep School in July 2013. Miles made the decision to transfer to Huntington Pre after being encouraged by the former Flint Powers guard, JaVontae Hawkins. Miles scored 9.8 points on average per game as a sophomore.

With the Hunting Prep, he played in the 2015 Dick’s Sporting Goods High School National Tournament in his junior year. He defeated the five-ranked Wheeler in the quarterfinals. However, Hunting Prep lost to first-ranked Oak Hill Academy in the semi-finals. On the whole season, he made an average of 15.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 2.3 steals in each game. In addition, he also made a 31-3 record, which is the most in the school’s history.

Miles averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, where he lead the Hunting Prep to a 25-11 record. He was later named a McDonald’s All-American in January 2016. On October 3, 2015, he announced that he would be playing for Michigan State. He was labeled as a blue-collar superstar by the head coach, Tom Izzo. In November 2016, he scored 21 points in his debut against Arizona. Then, he helped the Michigan State team to get victory over St. John’s.

Miles suffered an ankle injury and due to that, he missed at least a couple of weeks. In January 2017, he returned to action after missing 7 games. At the end of the season, he averaged 16,9 points, 2.1 assists, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in each game. He declared for the 2018 NBA draft by forgoing the final two seasons of collegiate eligibility. Miles was selected in the 2018 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers in June 2018.

However, on draft night, he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in an exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In November 2021, he scored a career-high 35 points against the Atlanta Hawks. Though, the Hornets lost the game to the Hawks. After a loss, he was ejected in April 2022. Subsequently, after being ejected, he threw his mouthpiece at 16 year aged Hawks fan. For his action, NBA later fined him $50,000.

Miles Bridges is married to Mychelle Johnson. He married his wife, Mychelle around early 2016. Together, they share two young toddlers named Ace Miles and Ayla Marie. Miles was arrested on Wednesday, June 29, for a felony domestic violence in Los Angeles. He turned himself into a local jail after an alleged physical altercation that took place on Tuesday.

Bridges reportedly turned physical with an unknown woman. As per sources, the woman was at first involved in an argument with Miles which later turned physical. The woman reportedly required medical attention after a physical altercation. he was set free on bail at $130K. His next court date is fixed for July 20 in Los Angeles.
