Early life

Simon Leviev was born on the 27th of September, 1990 in Ramat Elchanan, Bnei Brak, Israel. He shifted to Brooklyn, New York when he was 15. In the US, he stayed with his family’s friends who accused him of misusing their credit cards. Simon studied at a flight school in 2010.

Leviev has been involved in minor con activities since his teenage days. He was committing minor cons like cheque fraud. Simon changed his name to Simon Leviev legally to pretend that he has a connection with an Israeli businessman, Lev Avnerovich Leviev, who is known as The King of Diamonds.

Simon was caught red-handed while cashing stolen checks in 2011 due to which he was charged with forgery, theft, and fraud. The reports claimed that he had stolen a checkbook that belongs to a family while babysitting their kid.

He was also accused of stealing a checkbook while working as a handyman at someone’s house. However, for his con activities, he never appeared in court and was able to escape the country across the border into Jordan using a fake passport. He eventually fled to Europe using the fake passport of Mordechai Nisim Tapiro.

Simon was indicted in 2012 by an Israeli court where he was charged with forgery and theft of checks. He was also charged for leaving a 5-year-old kid while he was babysitting unattended. Simon continued his theft activity while staying in Europe where he used the name Michael Bilton to exploit several women. In 2015, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison after getting arrested in Finland on a charge of defrauding several women.

Simon returned back to Israel after finishing his sentence early. He moved back to Israel to be recharged and sentenced again in 2017. According to reports of The Times of Israel, he changed his legal name to Simon Leviev to travel around Europe identifying himself as the son Russian-Israeli diamond mogul, Lev Leviev. He allegedly used the dating app, Tinder to con several women as Leviev and lured them to loan him money.

Simon was always successful to lure women by gifting lavish presents and taking them to dinners on private jets. After some time, he would pretend as he is receiving some messages and images that would show his bodyguard being attacked. Then, he would ask his victims to provide him some financial support which would eventually make the victims to take out bank loans and issue new credit cards. Simon later makes his victims believe that he would repay the money to his victims by showing fake bank transfers.

Simon was arrested in 2019 by Interpol in Greece for using a forged passport. After a year in 2020, he was sent to prison for 15 months in Israel, however, he was released soon after five months due to a coronavirus pandemic. Simon is still wanted by many European countries for his conviction of various forgery and fraud activities. Leviev’s criminal story was documented as a video documentary by Netflix in 2022. In the documentary, his con story was shared by some of his victims.

After Netflix released the documentary, he was banned from the dating app, Tinder. Likewise, he was also banned from other apps including OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, and Match.com. However, Simon shared an Instagram post claiming that he has never been convicted of any fraud schemes and added that the ladies who appeared in the documentary should start telling the truth.

Simon Leviev is reportedly dating a model named Kate Konlin. He spoke about his relationship with his alleged girlfriend in the Israeli Magazine, Mako in July 2021. Kate mentioned that Simon has told her everything about his questionable past on their first date.

Kate also rubbishes all the fraud schemes that Leviev was accused of by questioning why would he take women for tens of thousands as he spends such an amount as a matter of routine. She further revealed that Leviev would spend the sums equal to theft and forgery on buying the gifts for her on Saturday.
