Early life

Tony Robbins was born on the 29th of February, 1960 in Los Angeles, California. He was born as the eldest kid of his parent’s three children. He was seven years of age when his parents separated with divorce. Tony was adopted legally by his step-father, Jim Robbins when he was 12.

Tony suffered from a pituitary tumor while he was studying in school. He also considers his home life as abusive and chaotic due to which he left his house when he was 17 and never returned. Afterward, he forbid his study and started working as a janitor.

At a mere 17 years of age, he began promoting seminars for the famous motivational speaker and author, Jim Rohn. In the early 1980s, he formed a partnership deal with NLP co-founder, John Grinder and later learned to firewalk and implemented it into his seminars.

Along with John Grinder, he launched his own seminars teaching about self-help and NLP. He later started teaching Neuro-Associative Conditioning (NAC). Robbins released his very first infomercial in 1988, which was produced by makers of Proactiv, Guthy-Renker. Tony was positioned as a peak performance coach in the infomercial and his early infomercials featured many celebrity endorsers such as Martin Sheen and former NFL player, Fran Tarkenton.

Tony rose to fame after the infomercials promoted his audio tapes which instantly became hugely successful. In fact, the audiotapes were sold in many millions of copies. Tony later started getting famous with his self-help products, seminars, and audio programs that would feature Neuro-linguistic programming and Ericksonian hypnosis. Tony has likewise been involved in various philanthropy activities. He founded the Anthony Robbins Foundation in 1991 that helps the young, hungry, homeless, imprisoned, and elderly people. Tony Robbins has been married twice. He tied the knot with his first wife, Rebecca “Becky” Jenkins in 1984. Tony adopted Jenkins’ three kids from her first two marriages. In 1998, his first wife filed for divorce from him. From his ex-girlfriend, Liz Acosta, he shares a son named Jairek Robbins.

He exchanged wedding vows with his second wife, Bonnie “Sage” Robbins in October 2001. Tony is currently living a happy moment with his wife, Bonnie in Manalapan, Florida.
