His YouTube channel has been demonized twice for racist and homophobic slurs and violating the presidential election integrity policy. Crowder’s self-titled YouTube channel currently has 5.94 million subscribers.

Crowder was born in July 1987 in Detroit, Michigan. He was born to a French Canadian mother. Steven was three when he moved to the Montreal suburb of Greenfield Park, Canada along with his family. He spent the rest of his childhood in Canada. Crowder studied at Centennial Regional High School. After reaching 18 years of age, he relocated to the United States and enrolled at Champlain College for two semesters.

Steven Crowder initially provided his voice on the children’s TV series, Arthur when he was only 12. At age 17, he had begun performing stand-up comedy. Following then, he acted in various movies including the 2009 movie, To Save a Life where he played the role of Doug Moore.

Steven started working for Fox News in 2009. He served at the conservative cable network for three years until 2012. He had begun posting satirical videos on politically conservative media by 2009. In 2012, he got into a controversy after posting a rap video that premiered at CPAC 2012.

Crowder and Fox News parted their ways in October 2013 after he made negative statements about Fox News and the network’s host, Sean Hannity. He became popular after he started a program called the Louder with Crowder in 2017. The program features mainly comedic content and political commentary. It was featured daily on the streaming service, CRTV. In December 2018 Glenn Beck’s media company, The Blaze merged with CRTV. Crowder hosted the program until December. His show remained on the top 100 list over the course of 2020 on Apple’s podcast list.

Crowder is also known for a regular segment, Change My Mind in which he sits at a table behind a sign and phrase Change My Mind. Then, he invites people walking to change their minds on a controversial subject. In February 2018, he seated behind a sign, Male Privilege is a Myth | Change My Mind outside the Texas Christian University. It eventually became an internet meme. Steven’s YouTube channel has faced similar criticism including criticism when he described CBS reporter, Betty Yu’s face as aggressively Asian.

In January 2023, the far-wing YouTuber was left over a $50 million offer from Ben Shapiro’s conservative website, The Daily Wire. However, he loudly complained that the offer was actually a form of slavery. Crowder posted a video on Tuesday, January 17 calling out an unnamed right-wing media company saying that the unnamed company wanted control of his official social media accounts. He further revealed that the company wanted to penalize him for missing shows and for getting demonetized on social media platforms.

The CEO of The Daily Wire, Jeremy Boreing later confirmed that Crowder was actually talking about an offer from The Daily Wire. Boreing pointed out that Crowder is not exactly a self-made man and has worked for years for companies backed by billionaires. Ben Shapiro also responded to Crowsder’s video stating that the offer was negotiable.

Steven Crowder is married to Hilary Crowder who is an interior decorator. They became engaged in March 2012 and exchanged vows after a few months in August 2012. In 2020, Hilary suffered a miscarriage. Crowder later revealed on January 25, 2021, that they are expecting twins. Subsequently, they became parents of two kids in August 2021, a son, Magnus, and a daughter, Charlotte.

In February 2021, he filed a lawsuit against Facebook alleging that the social media platform has unfairly censored him. Just after a month, his channel was suspended for a week for violating its presential election. On October 27, 2022, his channel was suspended for 2 weeks for violating its policy on threats, harassment, and cyberbullying.
