Early Life

Carlos PenaVega was born on the 15th of August, 1989 in Columbia, Missouri. He was born to a Spanish father, Carlos Pena, and a Dominican mother, Margarita Pena. He grew up with brothers; Andres, Antonio, and Javi. Carlos studied at the Sagemont Uppers School. He has also attended the American Heritage School.

Early in his career, he made appearances in local productions of musicals, Man of La Mancha and Grease. After that, he appeared in a production of the musical, Titanic. Later, he shifted his place to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an actor. While he had a role in the musical, Titanic, he started taking interest in singing and dancing.

Carlos was 15 when he had his first acting role on the medical drama series, ER where he appeared as a guest star. Following that, he appeared in guest starring roles on other series such as Judging Amy, Ned’s Declassified School of Survival Guide, and Summerland. Carlos has also made an appearance in TV commercials for the brand of recreational water gun, the Super Soaker.

PenaVega gave an audition for a role in the pop music boy band, Big Time Rush while studying at the Boston Conservatory. At the early stage, he was unwilling to give an audition, but, after his manager urged him, he submitted an audition tape. Luckily, he won the role and became a part of Big Time Rush for almost two years.

Carlos received wide recognition being a member of a pop boy band, Big Time Rush, which formed in 2009. He co-wrote the song, Oh Yeah from the band’s first album, BTR. Then, he wrote the song, Invisible on the second album. In the third album, 24/Seven, he co-wrote the song, Picture This. After that, he wrote the song, Lost in Love for his wife, Alexa PenaVega.

PenaVega also gained popularity as a solo singer. In February 2014, he dropped his first solo song titled “Electrico” in Spanish. The single became a big hit and peaked a spot in the top 10 of Latin iTunes songs charts. In the fall of 2015, he competed in the 21st season of the dance competition series, Dancing with the Stars. In the dance competition show, he was partnered with Witney Carson. Along with Carson, he reached the finals, however, they were eliminated in fourth place. Carlos then released his new song, Besame featuring MAFFiO in 2017.

Carlos and his wife, Alexa appeared in the Hallmark movie, Enchanted Christmas in 2017. That same year, he appeared in the movie, A Midnight Kiss. He appeared as a series regular in the CW series’ one season, Life Sentence. Then, he alongside his wife starred in the Hallmark movie “Love at Sea” and the Hallmark movie series “Picture Perfect Mysteries”. Carlos PenaVega is married to actress, Alexa Vega since January 4, 2014. The pair engaged in August 2013 after meeting at a Bible study. Their wedding ceremony was held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Together, the couple shares three children; two sons and a daughter. Alexa and Carlos share a YouTube channel called LexLovesLos.
