Irv Gotti is an American R&B music producer, DJ, and record executive. He is best known as the co-founder and CEO of the hip-hop record label, Murder Inc. Gotti has produced many No. 1 records for renowned artists including Jennifer Lopez, Ja Rule, and Ashanti. In addition, he is the creator of the BET drama series “Tales”.

Irv Gotti was born on June 26, 1970, in New York City. He was born to Irvington Domingo Lorenzo, Sr., and Nee Nee Lorenzo. Irv grew up with 7 siblings. His parents had great trouble raising seven kids. Irv’s dad was known to be a cab driver. To support his parents, he even supplied cocaine in his teenage.

Gotti’s crime involvement was cut short by the federal agents who caught him while he started selling crack and coke. He didn’t get to take further steps into the crime scene again after being caught. Though, he remained friends with several gangsters in his neighborhood.

In the early 1990s, his neighborhood was known for being a source of new hip-hop talent. He started his career as a promising young music producer. In 1995, he released “The Natural” with Mic Genome. Though, he got his breakthrough after he helped Jay-Z to produce his debut album “Reasonable Doubt” in 1996. After a much-needed breakthrough, he started working with other popular music artists.

In the starting days of his career, he worked as a talent scout and repertoire representative for many record labels. His experience helped him to become a successful record executive. After a while, he began working for Def Jam Records. Irv realized his goal of creating his own record label in 1999. He eventually became a half partner in Murder Inc.

With the Murder Inc, he gave many hit numbers over the years. Irv produced the smash hit number “What’s Luv?” in 2001. The song also features Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and Ashanti.

The Murder Inc. used the new name, The Inc. after the 2003 investigation, which include a raid on the Manhattan offices of Murder, Inc. Gotti had decided to use the name of the label when a Murder Inc logo appeared on the TV screen. The investigation later resulted in money charges of laundering being brought against himself and his brother, Chris, who was alleged to have a connection with financial transactions associated with a drug kingpin, Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff. The brothers were acquitted of all charges by a jury in December 2005.

Gotti then moved the record label, The Inc. to Universal Motown and signed the artist, Vanessa Carlton. He co-produced Carlton’s third music album titled Heroes and Thieves. The album was released on October 9, 2017. In early May 2009, Irv made a statement that his label was leaving Universal Records. The Murder Inc. was relaunched as an umbrella label under his new record label, Visionary in September 2013.

Irv Gotti was married to Debbie Lorenzo. He and his wife, Debbie called it quits in October 2013. Gotti was allegedly cheating on his ex-wife for many years by harboring his girlfriends across the states. Gotti has three kids with his former wife named Sonny, JJ, and Angie. Dennie revealed that Gotti was changing his cheating ways and confessed that there is nothing between them in a 2009 interview with Essence. Gotti also admitted to cheating on his wife with mistresses and girlfriends.

Gotti is still maintaining a sound relationship with his former wife, Debbie. He wished Debbie on the occasion of Mother’s Day 2018 for having amazing kids. Gotti further states that he would always be there for her till the end.

Gotti shared an emotional video of him in June 2022 saying that he was worth $300 million after signing a deal with Iconoclast. And another $200 million in the line of credit for him to create, produce and own his own TV projects in the coming years.
