Jake Flint was born in 1985 in Oklahoma, United States. Not much is discovered about his early life, parents, and education. He spent his childhood days in the oilfield boom town of Hodgenville, South Eastern Oklahoma. His father was a wildcat oilman. Flint grew up with an older sister. Later, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was always the outcast country kid in the city.

Flint got into music because of his father, who was a music lover. When he was a kid, he and his father were influenced by singers, John Denver, Dire Straits, James Taylor, and other Texas-based singers and songwriters. As he was having a hard time fitting in as a city kid earlier, he and his older sister got a hefty dose of 90s grunge rock from Foo Fighters, Pearl jam, and Nirvana.

Jake started playing music after his dad was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Due to the disease, his father was not able to connect or interact with him physically. After his father realized that he could not participate with Jake in sports, he commissioned some of his lifelong best friends to teach him to play guitar. Later, he discovered a love for bluegrass music and soon he transitioned his love for jam brands including Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.

During that time, he was also inspired to write his own music. After coming to know about the songwriters from Texas and Oklahoma such as Bob Childers, Chris Knight, and TOm SKinner, he found his musical inspiration. Soon, he decided to launch his singing and songwriting career. Flint eventually wrote and recorded his first record which was produced by Mike McClure in the Boohatch Studio.

For his first record, he took the help of his bandmate, Taylor Reed, his good friend, Cody Woody, and Jon Knudson from Whiskey Myers. Along with his close mates, he performed and sang on the record. Jake was still performing with his band at various venues all over Oklahoma. Additionally, he also played solo acoustical performances. To date, he has given a few hit songs such as Cowtown, Fireline, Long Road Back Home and What’s Your Name? He released his self-titled sophomore studio album on radio and all digital media outlets on February 15, 2020.

Personal Life

Jake Flint was married to the love of his life, Brenda Flint. He married Brenda at a remote homestead near Tulsa on November 26, 2022. He announced his engagement with Brenda in a heartfelt post in January. However, just a few hours afer exchanging wedding vows with his wife, he died in his sleep hours. His newlywed wife, Brenda wrote on Tuesday in part that she and Jake should be going through wedding pictures but instead, she had to pick out clothes to bury her husband.

Flint’s passing was confirmed by his longtime publicist, Clif Doyal, and his manager, Brenda Cline. According to a one-man band from Norman, Mike Hosty who played at Flint’s wedding told that despite it raining on his wedding day, the weather didn’t ruin the special moment for Flint and Brenda. They happily said I do’s in front of their friends and family. As of this writing, the official cause of his death has not been identified yet.
