Laine Hardy was born on September 12 in the year 2000 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up in Livingston, Louisiana. Laine was born to Barry and Cindy Lou. His dad serves as a general contractor for a construction company. And his mom works as a real estate agent. He has two siblings; a brother Kyle and a sister, Brittany Banta.

Hardy studied at the French Settlement High School. He received his high school graduation degree in 2018. Hardy was just 8 when he learned to play guitar. He started performing in a band along with his brother and cousins when he reached 14. The band was named the Band Hardy, and performed in local bars and restaurants.

Although he made it to the Top 50, he could not go further in the season. In 2019, he came back to the Idol as a support to his friend, Ashton Gill for whom he played guitar. After getting encouraged by the Idol judges, he gave an audition again and made it through the next round.

Hardy gave the best performances throughout Season 17, and in the end, came up as the winner. In the finale, he came out as the winner over Alejandro Aranda, who finished as runner-up, and Madison Vandenburg, who finished as second runner-up. Before claiming the Idol title, he had already released a 3 song EP titled “In the Bayou”. He has also released the single titled “Blue Christmas”.

After winning the American Idol, he released a coronation song “Flame” on May 19, 2019. In May 2019, he performed the song on the American talk show “The View”. Hardy was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison after being arrested by the Louisiana State University Police Department on April 29, 2022. He was arrested after his ex-girlfriend alleged that he planted an electronic recording device in her Louisiana State University dorm room.

Following his arrest, Hardy wrote on Facebook that he is cooperating with the investigators. His ex-girlfriend became suspicious after Hardy revealed information about her private life that she had never told him.

Sources also revealed that Hardy at one point did confess to his ex-girlfriend planting a device in her room. However, at that time he falsely told her that he had thrown the divorce on the pond. Hardy’s attorney, Frank Holthaus confirmed that the singer has been surrounded by allegations. However, the attorney didn’t give any further information on the related matter.
