LaTocha Scott is a popular R&B singer and occasional actress from Georgia. She was a former member of the multi-platinum-selling female R&B group, Xscape. Scott released her first gospel album titled The Invitation: A Conversation With God on April 7 via Motown Gospel/Capitol CMG.
LaTocha Scott was born in College Park, Georgia on October 2, 1973. She was born to Randolph Scott and Gloria McFarlin. Her father was a minister and her mom used to work as a teacher. She grew up with her sister, Tamika Scott, who is one of the four powerhouses of the female R&B group, XSCAPE.
Regarding her education, she studied at Tri-Cities High School of Performing Arts. Later, she transferred to Tri-Cities High School and completed her graduation in 1991.

LaTocha Scott was 6 years old when she started singing in church and at weddings. Along with that, she also used to show her singing skill at local talent shows. LaTocha was 11 when she and her sister, Tamika recorded their first song.
LaTocha and her sister, Tamika met Kandi Burruss while studying at high school. After meeting Burruss, the three started singing together. Before that, Scott used to perform with a group called Precise. After a while, Scott’s sister and Burruss recruited a fourth member in their group, Tamera Coggins.
However, Tamera didn’t perform with the girl group for a long time. Later, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle was selected for the group after her audition. After that, the female R&B group, Xscape was officially formed. In 1992, the female group gave their major debut performance at BET’s Teen Summit.
While performing at Teen Summit, Scott and other members of Sscape were introduced to record executive, Ian Burke. He later joined the girl’s group as their manager. The girl group was later signed by Jermaine Dupri’s record label, So So Def Recordings.
In October 1993, Xscape dropped their first album, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha. The album became a massive success and charted at 17 on the U. S. Billboard 200. It was also certified platinum within a year. In 1995, they came up with their second studio album titled “Off the Hook”.
The popular female R&B group later found new management in 1997. The following year, they dropped their third album titled Traces of My Lipstick. The album’s two songs, My Little Secret and The Arms of the One Who Loves You earned Scott and Dupri an ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Award.
In 1999, Scott left the female R&B band after the group’s dynamic changed following the release of the third album. Then, she focused on her solo career. After she left the group, the girls’ group went on hiatus. In 1998, she appeared solo first time with a track titled Promises.
LaTocha emerged and ventured into performing as a solo artist in the early 2000s. She also signed a record deal with Sony Urban after reconnecting with her ex-manager, Michael Mauldin. However, she left Sony Urban after the label failed to release her debut album. In 2002, she collaborated with rapper, Trick Daddy for his song, Thug Holiday.
Scott released her first gospel album titled The Invitation: A Conversation With Gold via Motown Gospel/Capitol CMG on April 4, 2023. Prior to releasing the album, she dropped the lead song, Stay With Me. Besides her music career, she also appeared in the second season of TV One’s reality series, R&B Divas: Atlanta in 2013.

LaTocha Scott is married to a music manager named Rocky Bivens. She tied the knot with him in 1995. Together, they share a son named Jamon who was born in August 1997. In November 2022, it came to news that her husband, Rocky is expecting a baby with the Instagram model, Unykue Foucha.
The Instagram model took to Instagram and called Bivens out revealing that the two were in a complicated relationship. On the other hand, Scott has always been faithful to her husband, She once left Xscape’s ongoing tour after the group’s promoter threatened Bivers to his life.
Scott also took some time off from the female R&B group following Bivens’ dispute with the group’s promoter. She recently became a part of a controversy after her sister, Tamika revealed in an episode of Watch What Happens that her own sister, LaTocha stole her gospel deal.
