He is also one of the judges of the music show alongside Nicki Nicole, Tainy, Rauw Alejandro, and Yandel.

Borrero was born on November 27, 1981, in Bogota, Colombia. He was raised by his parents in the Bronx, New York City. His ethnic background is Puerto Rican and Colombian. Borrero has not revealed the identity of his parents.

Though, he has shared his experiences and challenges that he faced growing up in a predominantly Latino community. Regarding his education, he received his graduate degree from the Berklee College of Music.

Lex Borrero initially established R8D Music Publishing with the help of the music company, BMG Chrysalis. In April 2010, he began working as the President and Co-founder of the publishing company. Then, in February 2013, he partnered up with Jonathan Gordon to establish the company, 1916 MGMT.

Through 1916 MGMT, he helped many individuals and groups who were willing to achieve success. He took the company’s name, 1916 MGMT as it was the year when John D Rockefeller became the first-ever billionaire in the world. Borrero ended his tenure with 1916 MGMT in July 2016 and gave continuity to his entrepreneurial ventures.

In July 2018, he started working as the Executive Vice President and Head of Latin for the Roc Nation. The following year, he became the CEO of a record label, Neon16. After the label became highly successful, he parted ways with Roc Nation in July 2019.

Borrero launched the multimedia powerhouse entertainment company, NTERTAIN in 2021. He launched the company by teaming up with the Range Media Partners and music legend, Tommy Mottola. The company mainly works on covering and placing Latin stories at the forefront of entertainment.

In 2022, he became an executive producer of the unscripted docu-series titled Los Montaner. It was also the first series of his company, which gave an exclusive look inside the most influential family in Latin music “the Montaners”. The series streamed on Disney+ on November 9, 2022, and ended on December 28, 2022.

Borrero came up with new music competition series titled The Signing (La Firma” on Netflix on April 4, 2023. Besides creating and producing the series, he is also featured as one of the judges on the music competition series along with Tainy, Rauw Alejandro, Yandel, and Nicki Nicole.

Lex is also responsible for Puerto Rican record producer, Tainy’s mainstream crossover. In fact, he brokered Tainy’s catalog sale for over eight figures in earlier 2023. Borrero has likewise worked as an executive producer along with his label, NEO 16 for the official soundtrack of SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run featuring popular artists, Snoon Dogg, Monsta X, Becky G, and Tyga.
