Early life and Beginning of her Career

Alexis Noel Thompson was born in Coral Springs, Florida on February 10, 1995. She has two brothers, Nicholas and Curtis Thompson. Both of them are also professional golfers. Lexi was home-schooled and completed her graduation in 2012.

Thompson has been actively playing golf since an early age. She was 12 when she set the record of becoming the youngest player to qualify and play in the U. S. Women’s Open. She held the record until it was broken by Lucy Li in 2014.

In 2007, she became the winner of the Aldila Junior Classic and became the second-youngest winner in the American Junior Golf Association. Lexi also became the youngest golfer in Junior PGA Championship history after she earned a victory on the Westfield Junior PGA Championship.

Lexi started playing professional golf on June 16, 2010. By that time, he had signed a sponsorship deal with some of the renowned brands like Red Bull, and Cobra-PUMA Golf. With being backed up by the sponsors, she was able to make an entry into tournaments. She got through and made an entry in the ShopRite LPGA Classic through her first sponsor’s exemption. In May 2010, she made entry to the U. S. Women’s Open, and there she finished T10.

In 2010, she made entry to the 3 more events on the LPGA Tour, where she missed the cut while playing at the CN Canadian Women’s Open. In 2011, she used sponsor exemptions and petitioned the LPGA to allow her to compete in up to 12 LPGA tournaments. However, her petition was denied by the Commissioner, Mike Whan in January 2011. Lexi competed in her first 2011 LPGA Tournament, the Avnet LPGA Classic.

In 2012, she successfully petitioned the LPGA and made an entry to the 2011 LPGA Qualifying School for 2012 Tour membership. She withdrew from qualifying school after registering a victory in the Navistar LPGA Classic. In October, she got her second LPGA victory at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, and her third LPGA wins at the Lorene Ochoa Invitational after a month in November. Thompson became the second-youngest women’s major winner after winning at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship, which was her first major championship.

Thompson has still been continuing her best form, and in 2019, she won the ShopRite LPGA Classic. In 2020, she finished T7th at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. Lexi escaped any penalty after getting involved in a rules controversy, where she moved a tuft of glass behind her ball with the help of her club. Following that, she missed the cut. Lexi led the U. S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club, and in the final round, she led by 5 strokes. However, she missed out on a playoff just by one stroke.
