Merrick Hanna was influenced by his grandmother who still takes dance classes even in her eighties. At mere 9 years of age, he began dancing. Initially, he started with robot-style dancing. Then, he taught himself to pop and wave through YouTube videos. He came to notice after one of his dance videos went viral. Afterward, he began taking part in local dance competitions at UC San Diego. At the same time, he also competed with adult dancers.

After some time, Hanna received overwhelming responses on social media and became popular as a brilliant young freestyle dancer. Then, he gave a try in the talent competition show, America’s Got Talent in Seasons 10 and 11. However, he was not successful at the time. Hanna finally made it through in Season 12 of America’s Got Talent and was able to impress judges and audiences. He eventually reached the semi-finals, but unfortunately couldn’t win the show.

Hanna has also worked as an actor in several projects. In 2007, he made his acting debut in the TV series, Das Supertalent. Then, he made appearances in many other TV series such as truTV Top Funniest, Totally TV, Home & Family, Lip Sync Battle Shorties and So you Think You Can Dance.
