Williams initially worked as a ball boy for the San Ysidro High School. He had his first official game dunk at 12 years of age. Back then, he was studying in 6th grade and was playing with the San Diego Sharks. After that, he played for the Malcolm Thomas All-Stars travel team. Williams was ranked as a top player by the Naismith National Youth All-American Report in the 2023 class.

Mikey joined the North Coast Blue Chips team, Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) while he was in 8th grade. He claimed prominence after playing alongside Bronny James. Following then, he competed for the Compton Magic on the AAU circuit in 2019. When he got into high school, he played as a freshman for San Ysidro High School.

Williams played his first high school game on November 20, 2019. In the debut game, he recorded 41 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists in a 98-46 victory at E! Cajon Valley High School. After that, he played against Mission Bay High School and got victory 85-77. Then, he recorded a career-high 77 points in December and made 3 three-points over a 116-52 win against Kearny High School. While shining as an exceptional basketball player, he went on to break the CIF San Diego Section (CIF-SDS).

In January 2020, he recorded 35 points against the top 2020 recruit, Evan Mobley. On February 27, Williams led San Ysidro to the CIF-SDS Division III title. While playing as a freshman, he averaged 29.9 points with 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists. Along with that, he was also named MaxPreps National Freshman of the year. Williams was transferred to Lake Norman Christian School after he entered the sophomore season.

Mikey was signed by Excel Sports Management on July 22, 2021. He joined the sports management team to pursue name, brand, and endorsement opportunities.
