Early life

Mystikal was born on 22nd September 1970 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent his childhood days growing up in Louisiana’s 12th Ward. Mystikal was 7 when he lost his father, who used to run a small neighborhood store. He was raised by his mom, Marie Tyler along with his older sister, Michelle Tyler, and younger brother, Maurice.

For his study, he joined Cohen High School. Then, he attended the U. S. Army as a combat engineer. Mystikal was interested in rapping from an early age. At an earlier stage, he opened for rappers, Doug E. Fresh and Run-DMC at the Treme Center. Afterward, Mystikal was granted a contract by Leroy “Precise” Edwards who was sitting in the audience.

Mystikal dropped his first studio album, Mystikal in 1994. He released the album on the New Orleans-based independent label, Big Boy. G.’z and U. N. L. V. The two rappers dissed him on songs such as “Drag ‘Em in Tha River” and “Fuck Big Boy”.

The album peaked at the top spot on the Billboard 200 and became his only chart-topping album to date. In 2002, he released an album titled Tarantula. The album includes the hit song “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against The Wall”. In 2003, the album received a nomination for a Grammy for Best Rap Album.

Mystikal also received a nomination for Best Male Rap Solo Performance at Grammy that same year. In February 2010, he performed at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts. After being released from prison, he released his first song “I Don’t Like You”. In May 2010, he released the music video for the song “Set Me Free”. The rapper recorded and released the song “Feel Right” in 2014. Simultaneously, after a year, he dropped the song’s music video.

Mystikal’s present relationship status is probably single. He pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion charges in June 2003. The rapper was then sent to state prison for six years after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting his hairstylist in January 2004. He was arrested in February 2012 for a dispute with his domestic partner. Mystical was released on bail after being detained for 9 days.

Mystikal was arrested again on July 31, 2022, for five charges including simple criminal damage to property, domestic abuse, false imprisonment, first-degree rape, and simple robbery. He was reportedly involved in the violent assault with an acquaintance who was visiting his home in Prairieville. Mystikal accused the woman of stealing a cash amount of $100 from him before he punched, choked, and pulled braids out of her hair. He also took her keys and phone so that she couldn’t skip from his house.
