Robbie had 350 jumps in his daredevil career and had set 20 world records. He was famous for his biggest jumps over the man-made volcano in front of the Las Vegas Strip’s Mirage Hotel in 2009. Robbie Knievel was a stunt performer from Montana. He was so famous in the 1970s for his role in The Bionic Woman. Knievel started jumping on his bicycle before he started kindergarten. He was only 8 when he performed in his first major public stunt. He retired in 1981 after breaking over 40 bones in his body. Knievel passed away at 60 years of age on January 13, 2023, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Knievel was born on May 7, 1962, in Butte, Montana. He was born as the third of four kids to his parents, Robert “Evel” Knievel and Linda. His parents named him after his paternal grandfather. He grew up with his two sisters and older brother, Kelly. Knievel studied at Central Catholic High School between 1975 and 1976. However, he never graduated from high school.

Robbie Knievel was only four when he started jumping his bicycle. He started riding motorcycles at mere seven years of age. Robbie performed in his first show at Madison Square Garden alongside his father when he was 8. He had begun touring with his father by reaching 12. While on the tour, he would show stunt performing in the pre-jump shows. Robbie had mostly used high-performance Honda CR500 Motorcross bikes in his jumping career.

On the other hand, his father made most of his record-breaking jumps on a Harley-Davidson XR-75- motorcycle. Honda CR500 is a Motorcross that is less heavy than and more agile than XR-750, a flat-track racing motorcycle. Robbie was successful to replicate his father’s jumps including the 1967 Caesars Palace crash. Robbie had once stated that he would like to break his father’s record by using an XR-750 to clear 16 buses and three more buses than his father that was attempted at Wembley Stadium in 1975. However, he never attempted the stunt.

Knievel has set 20 world records by completing over 350 jumps. His several jumps have also been televised live including his biggest jump in front of the volcano at the Mirage Hotel. Likewise, he has jumped more than 10 limousines at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium in 1996. He jumped 15 Diet Pepsi trucks at the Chinook Winds Casino in 2003. In July 2007, he successfully jumped $4.8 billion in bogus money representing the total interest paid to ING Direct customers in Wilmington, Delaware.

Knievel also successfully jumped at the Texas Motor Speedway in June 2008. That same year, he performed pre-jump wheelies at the LCO Casino near Hayward. However, during the stunt, he fell off the bike and dislocated his shoulder after sliding into some hay bales. Even though he was injured, he cleared four small airplanes and a small helicopter. Knievel performed his last jump at the Spotlight 29 Casino in October 2011.

Robbie Knievel was reportedly married once and divorced. He was the father of two daughters, Krysten and Karmen. Robbie also had a grandson, Kane, and a granddaughter, Analise. Knievel was battling pancreatic cancer for a long time. After a lengthy battle with cancer, he died on January 13, 2023. His brother, Kelly revealed that he passed away after being in hospice for three days. In the last moment of his life, he was in Reno with his daughters by his side.
