Roger Jenkins was born on September 30 in the year 1955 in London. His father was an oil refinery manager. For his study, he joined the Heriot-Watt University where he studied Economics. He graduated with an Honors Degree from the University. Jenkins later received the Diploma in Financial Studies from the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).

Jenkins was an accomplished sprinter in his youth days. In fact, he represented Great Britain and Scotland for five years from 1973 to 1978. Jenkins competed at the 1974 European Games and 1978 Commonwealth Games. While competing at the World Student Games in 1974, he was able to win a silver medal. Roger has a brother named David. Jenkins served at the Kleinwort Benson for seven years. In 1994, he again joined Barclays. There, he helped to analyze and develop the tax regimes of various countries. Between the years 2000 to 2011, Structured Capital Markets, Barclay’s division generated total revenue of 9.5 billion pounds.

The Wall Street Journal investigation report in 2006 alleged that Jenkins and his team formed a company, Augustus Funding LLC, which had no employees, products, and customers. Despite that, in 2004, the company registered a pretax profit of $317 million, and from the total profit amount, it paid taxes of $94 million. The report revealed that the company was one of the 9 structures involving US banks that was set up by Barclays.

During his working time at Barclays, he played a key role in selling the iShares asset management business to the private equity firm, CVC. In June 2009, the US firm BlackRock eventually purchased Barclays Global Investors for $13.5 billion. Jenkins left the job at Barclays in August 2009. However, he was associated with the bank as a consultant.

Jenkins launched an advisory firm, Elkstone Capital in Dublin in February 2010. The firm looked at opportunities created by the Irish financial crisis. The news came in October 2011 that he had started working as a managing partner at BTG Pactual. Jenkins made an investment in a fund in 2016 to acquire a North Carolina-based cannabis cultivation facility.
