Kevin Maxwell is a businessman originally from France. He is the second youngest son of the British media tycoon, Robert Maxwell. Kevin is often referred to as the Maxwell family’s backbone for his clever nature. He served as the Chairman of Maxwell Communications Corporation and Maxmillan Incorporated.

Maxwell was born in 1959 in Maisons-Lafftte, France. He was born as the eighth child of Elisabeth and Robert Maxwell. His mom was a French Protestant and his dad was Jewish. Regarding his education, he studied at Marlborough College and later attended Oxford University.

At the same time when he lost his father, the Mirror Group media empire collapsed. Then in 1992, Kevin became the biggest personal bankrupt in the history of the UK with debts of £406.5 million. In 1996, he was acquitted of fraud charges that arose from his role in his late father’s companies.

However, the company failed in its operation which ultimately resulted in a further arrangement of over debts he accrued. In 2005, he was discharged from bankruptcy. Then, he went into the property industry where he was involved in establishing large property deals including the purchase of Stables Market and the sale of Olympia and Earls Court Exhibition Centre.

Kevin was disqualified from being a company director for 8 years after an Insolvency Service investigated the collapse of a construction company, Syncro in July 2011. Alongside his brother, Ian, he founded a UK think tank, Combating Jihadist Terrorism (CoJit) in September 2018. The two brothers founded a think tank to better understand terrorism and its causes.

Maxwell came into the limelight again after Apple TV+ brought the biographical movie titled Tetris, which premiered on March 31, 2023. The biopic focuses mainly on the businessman, Henk Rogers, who tried to gain worldwide rights for the popular game, Tetris, and his friendship with Tetris creator and inventor, Alexey Pajitnov.

The Apple TV biographic movie also focuses on Robert and Kevin Maxwell, who threatens to scupper Rogers and Pajitnov’s plans. Robert tried to scupper the two friends’ plans at every turn for his own benefit and was more likely portrayed as a greedy pantomime villain. Kevin also helped his father, Robert to win the rights to the video game by fair means or foul.
