Tony Fadell was born on March 22, 1969, in Michigan. He was born to a Polish-American mother and a Lebanese-American father. His dad worked as a sales executive at the Levi Strauss Company. Tony spent his childhood in many cities as his family moved frequently. In 15 year period, he attended 12 schools.

Tony studied at the Grosse Pointe South High School. When he was 12, he discovered computers. He bought his first Apple II by caddying at the local golf club. While in high school, he used to spend time reading computer magazines dreaming to work with Apple’s team in the future. Fadell then attended the University of Michigan.

After leaving Apple, he developed the business plan for Nest Labs, Inc. He eventually co-founded the Nest Labs with a former Apple colleague, Matt Rogers in May 2010.

Fadell resigned from Nest Labs in June 2016 after 2 years when the company was acquired by Google for $3.2 billion.
