Tony was born on the 10th of October, 1982 in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. His father, Shahid Khan is a Pakistani-American billionaire, and his mother, Ann Carlson is an American. He grew up in Illinois along with his sister, Shanna Khan.
Regarding his education, he studied at the University Laboratory High School where he graduated in 2001. Then, in 2007, he attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he studied a Bachelor of Science.

Tony became the co-owner of the NFL team, the Jacksonville Jaguars in July 2012. After his father purchased the team, he looks after the team as Senior Vice President of Football Technology & Analytics. In February 2017, he became the Vice Chairman/Director of Football Operations English professional football club, Fulham, F. C. He is also the co-owner of the football team. His role in Fulham is to identify, evaluate, recruit and sign brilliant players.
Tony came up with a new venture idea and filed for several trademarks in late 2018, which was shortly confirmed to be a professional wrestling promotion named All Elite Wrestling (AEW). For his work association with All Elite Wrestling, he was given the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Promoter of the Year award for two years in 2019 and 2020.
