Early life
Austin Dillon was born on the 27th of April, 1990 in Welcome, North Carolina. He was born to Mike and Tina Dillon. His father is also a former professional stock racing car driver who currently works as the general manager for the Richard Childress team. Austin’s grandfather, Richard Childress is an RCR team owner.
Austin grew up with his older brother, Ty Dillon who is also a racing driver and competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup series. Dillon started his racing career by competing in the Legend Cars Series and the Bandolero Mini Cars series. After a year, he began competing at dirt late model racer, Dale McDowell’s school. He became the 2008 Rookie of the Year while competing in NASCAR Camping World East Series.

Initially, he drove for Andy Santerre Motorsports and later moved under his grandfather, Richard Childress Racing’s banner. At the start of his career with Richard Childress, he scored a win at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. He also had top 10 finishes in 13 races. Austin drove the No. 3 truck on his first Camping World Truck Series at Iowa Speedway. Though he failed to qualify for the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season after the truck failed inspection and his time was removed.
In 2010, he drove the No. 3 truck full-time with sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops. In June 2010, he got his first career pole at Texas Motor Speedway. He eventually finished third leading 20 laps. Dillon had his first career NASCAR victory while competing in the Lucas Oil 200 at Iowa Speedway on July 11. At the end of the season, he had two wins and 7 poles. Austin also earned the Rookie of the Year honors.
In October 2011, he made his first career start in the Sprint Cup Series at Kansas Speedway in the Hollywood Casino 400. In November 2011, Richard Childress made an announcement that Dillon would be moving up to the Nationwide Series in 2012. That year, he competed on a limited basis in the Spring Cup Series starting at Michigan International Speedway in June. He had his first Nationwide Series win in June 2012 at Kentucky Speedway.
Dillon continued to drive full-time in Nationwide Series in 2013. He won the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship in November 2013where he finished at 12 places in the final of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Dillon scored his first top 5 finish of 2020 at Las Vegas, which was also his first since the 2018 Consumers Energy 400. He claimed his 3rd career victory on July 19 at the 2020 O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.
Austin missed the Go Bowling 235 at Daytona after being tested positive for COVID-19 on August 15. He started the 2021 season with a victory in his Duel for the Daytona 500. In 2022, he returned to RCR for his ninth full season in the Cup Series where he drove the No. 3 Car. He finished 10th in the race at Circuit of the Americas on March 27.

Austin Dillon has been married to former NFL cheerleader, Whitney Ward since December 2017. He exchanged wedding vows with Whitney at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina. Together, they share a son named Ace R. C. Dillon. Austin and Whitney got connected first time in 2015 before they became engaged in August 2016.
