Early life

Matt Fitzpatrick was born on September 1 in the year 1994, in Sheffield, England. He has a younger brother named Alex who is an amateur golfer. His brother attends Wake Forest University and has played in the 2019 Walker Cup.

Matt studied at the Tapton School and there he sat A-levels in 2013. He joined Northwestern University in September 2013. There, he played college golf with the University’s athletic team, the Northwestern Wildcats. However, he left the University after one quarter to become a full-amateur golfer in January 2014.

As an amateur, he has been victorious at the Boys Amateur Championship in 2012. While competing at the 2013 Open Championship, he finished as a low amateur and won The Silver Medal. At that time, he and Jimmy Mullen were the only amateur golfers who made cuts. In 2013, he competed at the U. S. Amateur and won the championship. The victory earned him an invitation to the 2014 Open Championship, U. S. Open, and Masters Tournament.

Fitzpatrick reached the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking after winning the U. S. Amateur. He competed in the Walker Cup in September 2013. Matt turned professional in 2014 after competing at the 2014 U. S. Open. He appeared in his first professional event at the 2014 Irish Open. Afterward, he appeared in several events on Challenge Tour and European Tour with the sponsor and tournament invitations. He qualified for the 2015 European Tour after finishing 11th place in the 2014 European Tour Qualifying School in November 2014.

At the start of the 2015 season, he missed six cuts in the first 8 competitions. Though he was able to come back at the Lyoness Open where he finished in third place. He further improved his game and finished in second place at the Omega European Masters in July 2015. Fitzpatrick registered his first professional victory in October 2015 at the British Masters. After the victory, he made an entry into the top 100 for the first time being ranked at 59. At the end of his rookie season, he finished at 12 places in the final order of merit.

Fitzpatrick appeared at the 2016 Masters Tournament in April 2016. There, he finished tied for seventh place. He got his second European Tour victory at the 2016 Nordea Masters. With the win, he reached his best position 32 on the official world golf ranking. His good results in the 2015 and 2016 seasons helped him to get an automatic entry into the 2016 Ryder Cup. Fitzpatrick registered the biggest career win in November 2016 by winning the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.

Fitzpatrick competed at the Omega European Masters 2017 and in the end, he came out as the winner defeating Scott Hend. After a year, he successfully defended his Omega European Masters title over Lucas Bjerregaard. Matt Fitzpatrick is currently dating an Israeli professional tennis player, Deniz Khazaniuk. His alleged girlfriend, Deniz currently competes on the ITF Women’s Circuit. In the championship, she has finished as runner-up 14 times and has held 21 single titles.

Deniz is known to be studying at the Barry University in Florida and according to the University bio page, she has won all matches in the year 2021 whether it is single or doubles.
