Early life
Brandon Leake was born on the 12th of May, 1993 in Stockton, California. He was born to his estranged biological father, Tyrone and Carla Leake-Gibson. Leake was raised by a single mother. His mom used to work in 15 different jobs. Leake has a younger sister, Danielle Marie Gibson who died in 1997. His sister was eight months old when she died.
Brandon met his biological father for the first time in August 2017. Earlier, he wanted to be a martial art artist. However, later he realized that martial art is not for him after seeing his friend knocking out a kid and breaking his nose in karate competitions. Afterward, he started taking interest in basketball.
Leake studied at the Commodore Stockton Skills School in Stockton. At that time, he began writing poetry and developed a passion for poetry. Following college graduation, he worked along with Stockton Poet, Laureate Tama Brisbane on an All-American City piece. Afterward, he attended Edison High School and Simpson University.

Brandon served as an English teacher at Edison High School. He had started his teaching job at the Able Charter Schools in Stockton. Later, he became associated with Delta College as an academic advisor. While studying at Simpson University, he played basketball as a freshman on an NCAA Division II team. Then in 2012 along with a small student poetry group, he founded the organization, Called To Move at Simpson University.
Brandon graduated from Simpson University in April 2014 and became the first college graduate in his family. He became associated with a slam poetry team in Sacramento in 2015. Brandon released his first album, In My Thoughts in 2016 and booked a performance tour for himself. He performed in a total of 40 shows in twelve states of the U. S.
In 2017, he gave an audition for the first time on12th season of American Got Talent. However, he was rejected by the show’s screeners at that time. His audition was not even televised. Then in 2020, he again tried his luck on the Season 15 of the talent show. Leake performed the pieces about his sister whom he lost in his childhood, his mom, and his daughter. The performance impressed the judge, Howie Mandel and he eventually received the Golden Buzzer from him.
Leake kept on impressing judges and audiences with his amazing spoken word poetry. In the end, he came out as the champion of Season 15 in September 2020. After winning the show, he took home a $1 million cash prize and a brand new Kia Stiner. In addition, he also got the opportunity to star in 30 storey casino hotel, Luxor Las Vegas.
Brandon has performed in New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and 36 US States with his Dark Side Tour. He went on a tour to promote his album, Deficiencies: A Tale from My Dark Side, and his poetry. In October 2020, it was announced that he had signed with United Talent Agency. In addition, he was also announced to be serving as the contributor and producing partner in the web series “Hate: What Are You Going To Do?”.
Personal Life
Brandon Leake is married to Anna Rebekah Leake since September 2017. The pair met first time during a show in Stockton through a mutual friend. They became the parents of a cute little daughter, Aaliya James in February 2020. Their daughter was born shortly before he gave his first audition on Seaton 15 of America’s Got Talent. The pair welcomed a son named Jakari Bennett in August 2015.
