Early Life & Amateur Career

Jannero Pargo was born on October 22 in the year 1979 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born to parents, Charlie Mae and Jannero Brown. Pargo grew up with two siblings; a brother Jeremy and a sister, Kizzy.

Jannero studied at the Chicago’s Paul Roberson High School and graduated in 1998. Pargo had started playing college basketball after he joined the University of Arkansas. Later, he transferred to Neosho County Community College in 2000. While playing at Arkansas, he was known for burying a deep 3-pointer and casually dribbling across the half-court line.

Pargo could fire up 3-pointers from anywhere and during his tenure at Arkansas, he produced several 30-point games. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2002 for the professional basketball teams, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and New Orleans Hornets.

He came into attention while playing in the 2008 playoffs. During the game, he came off the bench for the basketball star, Chris Paul, and hit big 3-point shots in the semi-final game against the Spurs.

Pargo was signed to a 1-year contract deal with the Russian League team, Dynamo Moscow after the 2007-08 NBA season. He secured a buyout from Russian Club in January 2009 and signed with the Greek League club, Olympiacos. On May 5, 2009, he was released by the Greek League Club.

He signed a one-year contract deal with the Chicago Bulls on July 13, 2009. With that, he entered into NBA for a second time. Following that, he was signed to New Orleans Hornets on September 24, 2010. He was re-signed with the Bulls on March 20, 2011, and waived on December 16, 2011.

Pargo was signed to the Atlanta Hawks on December 20, 2011. He was then signed to the Washington Wizards on October 1, 2012. Pargo was released by the Wizards on November 15, 2012. Then, he played with Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Bobcats. In July 2014, he re-signed with the Charlotte Hornets for a fully guaranteed one-year contract deal worth $1.45 million. On November 9, 2014, he made his 2014-15 season debut.

With making his season debut, he was named the first modern-day player who played for Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Hornets franchises. Pargo was waived by the Hornets on February 4, 2015. He was then acquired by the Oklahoma City Blue in February 2016.

On March 31, he joined Oklahoma after coming back from a left ankle sprain. Pargo made his debut for Oklahoma that same night where he recorded 13 points. Nevertheless, his team lost to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He was waived by the Oklahoma Blue on February 23, 2017.

Jannero started serving as an assistant coach for the Windy City Bulls on September 15, 2017. He was working with the City Bulls in the NBA G League. Then in July 2019, he became the assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers. His new journey began with the new team, the Indiana Pacers on August 9, 2021.

The reason behind their divorce was stated as his wife, Malaysia was having affair with former rapper turned pastor, Mase. Their divorce was finalized in 2014, and he agreed to pay Malaysia a monthly spousal and child support of $15,380.
