Karine Jean-Pierre was born on August 13 in the year 1977 in Fort-de-France, Martinique. She was raised along with two younger siblings by Haitian parents. Pierre’s father was a taxi driver and her mom served as a home health aide. Karine being the eldest kid used to take care of her siblings as her parents were busy most of the days in a week.

Pierre studied at the Kellenberg Memorial High School. She graduated from high school in 1993. Then she joined the New York Institute of Technology and earned a B. S. degree in 1997.
