Adam Kinzinger was born on the 27th of February, 1978 in Kankakee, Illinois to parents, Betty Jo and Rus Kinzinger. He spent some part of his youth days in Jacksonville, Florida. Adam primarily grew up in Bloomington, Illinois. He received his high school graduation degree from Normal Community West High School in 1996. Then, he attended Illinois State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in political science.

Kinzinger won the election of a county board member in McLean County when he was 20. He remained on the county board until he resigned in 2003. After that, he joined the United States Air Force, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in November 2003. Later he was awarded pilot wings and flew a KC-135 Stratotakner on missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Guam, and Iraq.

Following graduation from Illinois State, he served as an intern for former United States Senator, Peter Fitzgerald. In January 2009, he met Republican Congressmen, Peter Roskam, Mark Kirk, and Mike Pence to discuss a possible run for Congress. He eventually decided to run in Illinois’ 11th congressional district. On February 2, 2010, he won the five-candidate Republic primary with 64% of the vote.

On November 2, 2010, he defeated Halvorson in the general election with a vote margin, of 57 to 43%. He represented Illinois District 16 from the outer southern suburbs of Chicago to Bloomington/Normal during his first term. His district was eliminated after redistricting. In the 2014 Republican primary election, he faced a nurse and the Rockford Tea Party founder, David Hale. He defeated David with 78% of the vote, and later in the general election, he defeated the Democratic nominee, Randall Olsen with 71% of the vote.

Kinzinger won March 2016 Republican Primary election with 100% of the vote. He defeated Democratic challenger, Sara Dady and in the 2020 election, he defeated Democrat, Dani Brzozowski. He signed a pledge sponsored by Americans for Prosperity in 2010 and sponsored the Veteran Emergency Medical Technician Support Act of 2013. Adam also voted in favor of the 2017 Republican health care legislation and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Kinzinger received criticism during the COVID-19 pandemic from some Asian American leaders for blaming China for increasing COVID cases at a time when COVID-related discrimination is rising. In November 2021, he was one of the 13 House Republicans who voted in favor of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which was proposing a $1.2 trillion infrastructure spending bill. Kinzinger is a critic of Donald Trump who also voted against Trump’s first impeachment.

Kinzinger is one of the ten Republicans who sided on voting to impeach Trump for insurrection. He and Liz Cheney are the only two Republicans to vote to create a select committee to investigate the attack on U.S. Capitol.

Adam Kinzinger has been married to Sofia Boza-Holman since February 16, 2020. He became engaged to his wife Sofia in June 2019. Together they share a son named Christian Adam Kinzinger, who was born in January 2022.

He was previously engaged to a fellow pilot and Air Force Captain, Riki Meyers in 2011. However, something went wrong and they called off their engagement in 2012.
