Liz Cheney was born on the 28th of July, 1966 in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. Her father, Dick Cheney is a former Vice President of the United States under President George W. Bush, and her mother, Lynne Cheney is an author and former talk show host. She was born when her parents were still attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Liz has a sister, who is involved with many political action committees.
Liz was a cheerleader at the McLean High School from where she graduated in 1984. Following that, she joined Colorado College to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1996, she earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to joining the law school, she served at the State Department for 5 years. In the meantime, she also worked at the United States Agency for International Development.

Cheney became an international law attorney at the International Finance Corporation after she received her graduate degree from law school. She further expanded her work experience by serving as a Special Assistant to the former Soviet Union as the Deputy Secretary of State for Assistance.
Liz was hired at the Near Eastern Affairs as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in 2002. While serving the position, she earned control over the U. S. Department program, Middle East Partnership Initiative, which was designed to foster economic progress and increase democracy in a troubled region.
In 2003, she left the State Department post and started working in the reelection campaign of her father which was about to take place in 2004. Liz returned to the United States State Department in February 2005, and she was subsequently hired as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs. While serving in the position, she got to work in the multilateral efforts which were designed to support and promote democracy and flourish economic and education opportunities mainly in North Africa and the Middle East.
Liz announced her candidacy for the Wyoming House seats in February 2016. She was considered the front runner for the election, and in the end, the result came in her favor as she got the victory with more than 60% of the vote.
On January 3, 2017, she was sworn into office, and the same month, Donald Trump became the new President of the United States. Liz has supported Trump more consistently in House votes from 2017 to 2021. While talking to ABC News, Liz refused to rule out a presidential bid about her possible presidential run in 2024.
Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are the only two Republicans to vote to create a select committee to investigate the attack on U.S. Capitol. She is also one of 10 Republicans who voted in favor of the impeachment of President Trump after the insurrection.

Liz Cheney is married to lawyer Philip Perry. She has been married to Philip since 1993. The pair shares five kids together, Kate, Elizabeth, Richard, Grace, and Philip Jr.
