Early life
Metro Boomin was born on September 16 in the year 1993 in St. Louis, Missouri. His real name is Leland Tyler Wayne. He was born to Lamont and Leslie Wayne. He grew up with four siblings. Boomin lost his mother on June 5, 2022, who was killed by his stepfather. The identity of his stepfather has not been disclosed yet. Reports claimed that the official cause of death of his mother would be disclosed by conducting an autopsy.
Boomin studied at Parkway North High School. He had started playing bass guitar with the middle school band. At 13 years of age, while studying in the seventh grade he had begun making beats. His mother bought him a laptop with which he would get a copy of music production software, FruityLoops.

In the early days, he wanted to rap and make beats so that he would rap on the music. As he grew up, he became more interested in hip-hop production.
Boomin slowly started to grow his production skills. He started to utilize online social media platforms to build a network with known rap artists. His mother would drive him from St. Louis to Atlanta to meet the music artists whom he had connected on social media. The first artist he worked with was Bricksquad Monopoly rapper, Tay Don. The rapper then helped him to collaborate with other Bricksquad label artists like Gucci Mane, Juiceman, and OJ da.
Boomin decided to pursue a music career when he was in 11th grade and eventually traveled to Atlanta. Following high school graduation, he shifted place to Atlanta and attended Morehouse College. He studied for a semester at the college and took a hiatus to pursue a full-time music career. Boomin then worked with many rappers. Likewise, he worked and collaborated with other modern hip-hop producers such as Sonny Digital, Zaytoven, DJ Spinz, and Young Chop.
Boom worked extensively with the famous rapper, Future. The two worked together on a song titled “Hard”. He formally announced his first mixtape “19 & Boomin” in May 2013. After a year, he and rapper, Young Thug announced that they would be releasing a collaborative album and for that, he used the moniker Metro Thuggin. He produced the track “Want Some More” for Nicki Minaj and made an appearance on her third studio album in 2014.
Boom collaborated with Canadian rapper, Nav in July 2017 and released two songs “Call Me” and “Perfect Timing (Intro)”. In October 2017, he worked with rappers Offset and 21 Savage, and released the collaborative studio album “Without Warning”. Boomin announced his retirement from rap in April 2018 through his Instagram page. Nevertheless, he later earned a production credit on rapper, Nicki Minaj’s fourth studio album “Queen”.
Boomin co-produced the Canadian singer’s song “Heartless” in November 2019, Then, in September 2020, he announced his fourth collaborative project titled “Savage Mode II’ with rapper 21 Savage. As of now, he has released two studio albums, three collaborative albums, three mixtapes, and one Extended Play.

Metro Boomin’s present relationship status is unknown. While he was in high school, he was dating a girl named, Chelz. They started dating in October 2011. Boomin revealed in one of his old tweets that Chelz was his first love and girlfriend in high school. He officially confirmed his relationship with Chelz in July 2012. Boomin dated Chelz for almost four years. They were last seen for the time as a couple in 2015.
