Mito Pereira is a professional golfer from Chile. He has won multiple professional victories, most coming on the Korn Ferry Tour. Pereira has produced several fine results on the PGA Tour. However, he has not secured a single victory in the PGA tournament yet.

Mito Pereira was born in Santiago, Chile on March 31, 1995. He was born to Sibylle Pereira Hinke and Guillermo. His parents got married in 1995 and have three kids together. Mito has an elder sister, Lila, and a younger brother, Gabriel. Regarding his education, he studied at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Mito Pereira played college golf for a year with Texas Tech’s Red Raiders golf team. In August 2015, he was ranked at the fifth spot on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Pereira turned professional in 2015 and participated in the 2016 PGA Tour Latinoamerica.

Mito showed his best form and eventually won the Roberto De Vicenzo Punta del Este Open Copa NEC. He also reached the top spot of the Order of Merit and became the youngest golfer ever ranked at the top spot.

At the end of the season, he was ranked No. 3 on the Order of Merit. After that, he earned a promotion to the 2017 Web.com Tour. Then, he competed at the Nashville Golf Open and finished at T3. Pereira qualified for his first major at the 2019 U. S. Open.

However, he could not cut the U. S. Open. Then, he played at the 2019 Pan American Games where he received the bronze medal in men’s competition. In February 2020, he played on the 2020-21 Korn Ferry Tour. With his excellent form, he eventually won the Country Club de Bogota Championship.

Pereira then had two back-to-back wins at two Korn Forry Tours, the BMW Charity Pro-Ann and the Rex Hospital Open. After that, he was subsequently promoted to the PGA Tour in June 2021. With the win,  he became the twelve golfers in the developmental tour’s history of 32 years to earn the automatic 3-win promotion.

In August 2021, he competed at the Olympic Games. He was able to finish in a tie for third place at the Olympics. After that, he participated in the 2022 PGA Championship and entered the final round with a 3-shot lead against Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick. At the end of the championship, he tied for third place.

Even though he could not win the title, he became the third golfer in the past 20 years to double bogey in the 72nd hole. Before he did a double bogey at the golf event, Colin Montgomerie and Phil Mickelson did it at the 2006 U. S. Open. In 2022, he qualified for the International team at the Presidents Cup.

Pereira played three matches at the 2022 Presidents Cup, tied one, and lost two. In February 2023, it was announced that he would compete in LIV Golf and participate as a Torque GC team member. Pereira has recently appeared in Netflix’s sports docuseries, Full Swing, which premiered on February 15, 2023.
