Early life

Latto was born on 22nd December 1998 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to a black father, Shayne Pitts, and a white mother, Misti Pitts (nee Stephens). At age two, she along with her parents moved to Atlanta, Georgia. There, she attended Lovejoy High School.

Latto used to get bullied in school due to her light skin. The bullying later inspired her to adopt the stage name, Miss Mulatto when she started her rapping career. She had decided to become a rapper when she was 10. She even had started writing her own rap songs.

Latto went on to compete in the Lifetime reality series “The Rap Game” in 2016. In the end, she won the competition and was offered a record deal with So So Def Records. However, she turned down the offer as they were not giving her enough money to be an independent artist.

Latto announced her new song “Wheelie” on March 9 and made confirmation that the track would feature fellow Atlanta rapper, 21 Savage.
