Richard Gary Leventhal was born on January 24, 1960, in Christian County, Kentucky. He was born as a younger son of a retired psychologist, Dr. Allan Leventhal, and retired director of Greenbelt Cares, Carol Leventhal. Rick grew up with three siblings.

Rick has earlier worked as a reporter for many years and has reported from war zones many times. He has been to Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Albania, and Macedonia during wartime covering the hot news. In 2011, he went on 2 trips to Libya. Likewise, he stayed nine weeks in Iraq and Kuwait in 2003. During the time he stayed in Iraq and Kuwait, he embedded with U. S. Marine Corps’ 3rd L.A.R. and crossed the border, and advanced to the outskirts of Baghdad.

Rick also became one of the first reporters to cover the news at the World Trade Center during the September 11 attack. He was in fact the first reporter to go live before the towers collapsed to the ground. Following year, he visited Bahrain and embedded with Marines at Camp Rhino. He also covered the live coverage of the Louisiana flood. Likewise, he covered the major news regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Rick also spent significant time covering the news of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. That same year, he covered the devastating earthquake news in Haiti, and cover the death and funeral of the former head of the Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II. In June 1997, he joined the Fox News Channel as a senior correspondent. He worked for Fox News until June 2021.

A year back in 2020 before his departure from Fox, he had requested the network to relocate his workplace to California so that he would spend more time with his wife, Dodd. The shocking news of his exit from Fox came after one day when his wife, Kelly revealed that she would not appear on the sixth season of Bravo’s show “The Real Housewives of Orange County”. Kelly revealed that she and Rick both had contracted Lyme disease.
