Sam Hurd is a former football wide receiver from Texas. He played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. In December 2011, he was arrested in Chicago for attempting to purchase and distribute large quantities of cocaine and marijuana. Hurd was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2013 and was released from his sentence on February 23, 2023.

In July 2011, Hurd signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Bears as a free agent. He was also named the special teams’ captain of the Chicago Bears. However, Chicago cut him off from the team on December 16 after he was arrested on drug-related charges.

Besides playing in the NFL, he co-hosted a one-hour player commentary show, Inside the Huddle in 2007. The commentary show aired live on 105.3 FM radio in Dallas. In addition to that, he also co-hosted a 30-minute TV show on Time Warner Cable’s ESPN2. Hurd also ran a program, Running with the Hurd to help underprivileged young kids.
