Tate McRae was born on the 1st of July, 2003 in Calgary, Alberta. She was born to Tonja and Todd Rosner. Her father is from Canada and is a lawyer by profession. Likewise, his mom is originally from Germany and is a dance teacher. She was 4 when her family moved to Oman. There, she stayed for 3 years learning dance lessons from her mother.

McRae studied at The American International School Muscat (TAISM) while staying in Oman. At 6 years of age, she started recreational dance training. When she turned 8, she returned to Calgary. At the early stage of her career, she worked as a voice actress for the animated children’s franchise “Lalaloopsy”. She provided the voice of Spot Splatter Splash in the animated series until its conclusion in 2015. Then, she danced competitively and eventually earned the Mini Best Female Dancer at Dance Awards in 2013. Tate received a 2-week scholarship at the Berlin State Ballet company in 2015. She received the silver medal in solo and bronze medal as a duet while competing at Youth America Grant Prix in 2015.

McRae competed on the 13th season of the American dance reality show “So You Think You Can Dance” in June 2016.
