Bo Burnham was born on August 21 in the year 1990 in Hamilton, Massachusetts. He was born to Patricia and Scott Burnham. His father is a construction company owner and his mom is a hospice nurse. She grew up with two siblings; an elder brother Pete and an elder sister Samm. Both of his siblings have worked in the family’s construction company.
Burnham studied at the St. John’s Preparatory School. He studied free in the school as his mom was the school’s nurse. Burnham graduated from school in 2008 and then joined the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He studied experimental theatre at the University. However, he didn’t attend the university as he focused on pursuing a career in comedy.

Burnham earned early recognition after posting his song titled “My Whole Family” on YouTube. Then he started releasing pubescent musical comedy songs and videos on the online platforms. He had earlier written and released songs about white supremacy, homosexuality, Helen Keller’s disabilities, and more. The interesting part of his video is that all videos are self-recorded in his bedroom and around his family’s house in Hamilton.
In January 2008, he recorded a performance for the Comedy Central’s “The World Stands Up”. He was then just 17 at that time. Then in December 2013, he released his second special “what.” on Netflix and YouTube. Burnham came up with his third special “Make Happy” on June 3, 2016.
Burnham announced in April 2021 that he would be releasing his fourth special, Inside on May 30. He created the special during the COVID-19 pandemic alone in his house’s guest house. The fourth special surprisingly received universal acclaim and earned a nomination at many award events such as Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. Burnham celebrated the one-year anniversary of his fourth special on May 30, 2022, by releasing hour-long unseen footage on YouTube.
Burnham is also a talented actor and director. He wrote and directed his first feature movie titled “Eighth Grade” in 2018. The movie received positive reviews and universal acclaim. That same year, he directed the comedy special, Tamborine for Netflix. In 2019, the news came that he would contribute songs to the upcoming Sesame Street movie. Burnham appeared as Ryan Cooper in the revenge thriller movie “Promising Young Woman” in 2020.
