Early life

Jordan Peterson was born in June 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta. He was born as the eldest kid to his parents, Walter and Beverly Peterson. His mom used to serve as the librarian at the Fairview campus. While his father was a school teacher. He met the Canadian politician, Rachel Notley in junior high school and became friends with her. From age 13 to 18, he joined the New Democratic Party (NDP).

Peterson graduated from Fairview High School in 1979. Then, he attended the Grande Prairie Regional College and studied political science and English literature. He intended to be a corporate lawyer while studying in college. His educational focus changed after he read George Orwell’s “The Road to Wigan Pier”. Afterward, he was transferred to the University of Alberta and graduated in political science in 1982.

Jordan then returned to study at the University of Alberta and completed BA in psychology in 1984. Following year, he joined McGill University and received Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1991. He worked with Pihl and Maurice Doniger as a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University’s Douglas Hospital until June 1993.
