Early life

Dana’s full name is Dana Marie Perino and she was born in Evanston, Wyoming on May 9, 1972, to her parents, Lee and Janice Perino. She spent her childhood days living in Denver, Colorado. Dana belongs to Italian descent as her parent’s great-grandparents were originally from Italy.

Regarding her education, she went to Ponderosa High School, and later attended the Colorado State University-Pueblo, from where she received a degree in mass communications with a minor degree in political science. Dana has also studied at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS), from where she obtained a Master’s degree in public affairs.

During her time at the UIS, she worked as a daily reporter for a CBS affiliate station, WCIA. She then served as a staff assistant for Congressman Scott McInnis. Dana returned to Washington D. C. and started serving at the Department of Justice as a spokesperson. Her next working destination came at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, where she served as the Associate Director of communications.

Perino got the opportunity to serve as the associate director of communications for the White House in 2002. After three years in 2005, she became a Deputy Press Secretary, which she served until 2007. Then she served as the Acting White House Press Secretary until April 30, 2007.

In September 2007, she replaced Tony Snow as President George W. Bush’s assistant and White House Press Secretary. She served for the White House until the Bush administration came to an end in January 2009. After leaving the White House, she started a new journey and became associated with Fox News as a political commentator. As of now, she is serving as a regular co-host of Fox News’ talk show “The Five”.

On June 30, 2010, she was confirmed by the United States Senate to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors. Keeping aside her professional work, she also teaches at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. In September 2016, Dane co-hosted her own podcast titled “Perino & Stirewalt: I’ll Tell You What” on the Fox News Channel. She hosted the podcast along with Chris Stirewalt.

Dana Perino has been married to Peter McMahon since 1998. Her husband, Peter was born in England, and she met him in August 1997. Dana’s better half, Peter is a businessman who is involved in the sales of medical products and international marketing. As of now, the pair doesn’t share any kids together.

A few years back, Dana was linked with her Fox News co-host, Chris Stirewalt. They have worked together on the Fox News show “New Sunday Show”. However, the rumor was later turned down by both Dana and Chris.

Dana is currently living in Bay Head, New Jersey with her husband, Peter. She is a dog lover, who adopted a Vizsla named Percy after her old dog, Jasper, who was also a Vizla died on September 4, 2021.
