Ladd Drummond was born in Nebraska, United States on January 22, 1969, to his parents, Chuck Drummond and Nan Olsen. He has spent all his childhood days staying in Pawhuska, Oklahoma along with two brothers, Tim and Todd. However, he lost one of his brothers, Todd in a car accident.

Even though he had started working on the ranch from an early age, it doesn’t mean that he gave up his study. He completed his high school graduation from Pawhuska High School, and then attended Arizona State University. While studying at the university, he started playing football. Ladd’s family earlier stayed in Oklahoma for short time, after which, they returned back to the ranch. He was introduced to the ranch lifestyle when he was at an early age. Ladd became familiar with ranch work due to his father, who made him do tasks and taught him to work on the ranch. He was able to learn all the work quickly and became an expert in operating machines, driving trucks, and manual labor work.

Ladd is a fourth-generation cattle rancher, and he currently co-owns the Drummond Land & Cattle Co. The company was founded and operated by the family patriarch, Fred Drummond in the late 1800s. Fred came to the United States emigrating from Scotland.

While staying in Kansas, Fred met Addie Gentner, with whom, he started Drummond Land & Cattle Co. Ladd has inherited the cattle ranch business from his ancestors. As per the sources, the property is spread over more than 433,000 square miles, and the Drummonds raises over 25 hundred horses on the ranch.

Currently, he looks after the company along with his brother, Tim, and father, Chuck, who are also his partners. Likewise, his cousin helps him run the company as an associate. Besides running a cattle ranch, he also tried his luck in other businesses. He started the restaurant, The Merc in late 2016. The restaurant was initially located in a 100-year-old downtown Pawhuska building, which they renovated in 2012.
