Louis Oosthuizen was born on October 19 in the year 1982 in Mossel Bay, South Africa. He belongs to a strong tennis family. It is known that his father and brother, both played tennis. Louis earned his first professional title when he was 19. He was in the best form while competing on the Sunshine Tour. Louis has made 5 Sunshine Tour titles to his name. Louis got his first European Tour win at the Open de Andalucia de Golf in March 2010. That same year, he competed in the 2010 Open Championship.

At the time when he entered the 2010 Open Championship, he had made the cut in 8 major championship appearances. On the first day, he shot a 65 which placed him in second place behind Rory Mcllroy. Louis eventually won his first PGA Tour title on July 18, 2010, by defeating Lee Westwood by 7 strokes. At the end of the 2010 season, he finished in 10th place.
