Jason Everman is a musician and soldier from Alaska. In February 1989, he joined the rock band, Nirvana as a second guitarist. He also played guitar in the rock band, Mind Funk. In September 1994, he left Minkd Funk and joined the U. S. Army.
Jason Everman was born in Ouzinkie, Alaska on October 16, 1967. He was brought up by his mother and stepfather, who was a former Navy serviceman. Everman grew up with his half-sister. According to his half-sister, their mom used to stay extremely depressed and was a pill-popping alcoholic.
Everman was made to attend therapy sessions by his grandmother at a young age to deal with his emotional issues. During the sessions, he started playing guitar. When he was in high school, he played in several bands. During that time, he also got in contact with his biological father who owned a fishing boat.
Jason used to play guitar and also worked several seasons on his father’s boat. Regarding his education, he pursued a Master’s degree in Military History from Norwich University. Prior to that, he received a Bachelor’s degree from the Columbia University School of General Studies.

Jason Everman initially played guitar in a local band named Stonecrow. While performing in the band, he met future Nirvana drummer, Chad Channing. Jason became a member of the rock band, Nirvana as a second guitarist in February 1989.
Everman was later listed as the second guitarist on Nirvana’s debut album, Bleach. Although he appeared on the cover, he didn’t play on any of the songs. Later, it was revealed he actually paid a fee of $606.17 to record the album. Due to that, the rock band’s founder, Kurt Cobain gave him the credit as a token of thanks.
Jason also became a part of Nirvana’s 2009 remastered edition of Bleach. Though he can be seen on the album’s front cover, he is no longer credited. In 1989, he toured with the rock band in support of the band’s debut album.
Jason was also seen playing guitar on an unofficial release of a live performance titled Trust No-One. Similarly, he played guitar in an in-store performance at Rhino Records held on June 23, 1989, in Los Angeles.
Everman also played Fender guitars for Nirvana on occasional conditions. However, the rock band later fired him after the end of the tour due to his moody nature. Jason has likewise been featured on Nirvana’s two-song session in separate releases titled Do You Love Me? And With the Lights Out.
In 1989, he became a member of Soundgarden as a temporary successor of bassist, Hiro Yamamoto. That same year, he played on the rock band’s cover, Come Together. He also appeared in the band’s home video, Lounder Than Live.
Evernman joined the rock band, Mind Funk in 1993. He performed with the band for a year until September 1994 and joined the U. S. Army. Then, he served with the Army’s 2nd Ranger Battalion and the Special Forces. During that time, he served on tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everman later took a break from military service and briefly served as a bike messenger.
Jason reentered the U. S. Army and joined the Special Forces. In 2006, he received an honorable discharge and earned a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University in May 2013. In 2010, he appeared in a documentary on Motorhead frontman, Lemmy, where he described Motorhead as Good go-to-war music.
Everman is currently a member of the military band, Silence & Light. He started the band after meeting fellow veteran band member, Brad Thomas in May 2017. The military band consists of army veterans and Everman plays the guitar. In January 2019, he started recording an album for the military band. The album was finally released in December 2019.
