Early life

Jeanine Pirro was born on the 2nd of June, 1951 in Elmira, New York. Her mom has served as a department-store model, and her dad was a mobile-home salesman. Jeanine knew from a small age that she would become an attorney. She studied at Notre Dame High School for three years and then interned at the Chemung County District Attorney’s office.

Jeanine later received a graduate degree from the University at Buffalo. In 1975, she attended the Albany Law School and earned her J. D. degree.

In 1975, Pirro was appointed as the Assistant District Attorney of Westchester County by the District Attorney, Carl Vergari. There, she was responsible for handling minor cases and writing appeals. In 1978, Carl Vergari appointed her as the first chief of the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau.

Pirro was praised for her passion as Domestic Violence Bureau Chief and was known to be an aggressive chief. In the late 1980s, her relationship with Carl Vergari disintegrated. After that, she took sole responsibility for establishing the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau. In 1999, Vergari critiqued her as bright and capable but very self-centered in everything she does.

Jeanine was elected as a judge of the Westchester County Court in November 1990. On January 1, 1991, she was sworn in as Westchester County’s first female judge. She served as a Judge for two years, and she was elected as a Westchester County District Attorney in November 1993.

Likewise, she became the first female to serve as the president of the New York State District Attorneys Association. She was later appointed to chair the New York State Commission on Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board by then-Governor, George Pataki.

In May 1986, she was announced as the running mate of Westchester County Executive, Andrew O’Rourke. Pirro withdrew her name from the race on May 28 just one day before the scheduled vote for the lieutenant gubernatorial nomination.

In August 2005, Pirro announced that she would be seeking the Republican nomination challenging first-term incumbent, Hillary Clinton. She dropped out of the Senate race in December 2005 due to continuing pressure from party chiefs.

Pirro began hosting Fox News’ “Justice with Judge Jeanine” in January 2011. The TV show focuses on big legal stories and was aired on weekends.
