Alex Wagner was born on 27th November 1997 in Washington, D. C. She was born to Carl Wagner and Tin Swe Thant. Her father was a prominent Democratic Party political consultant. Her mom was originally from Yangon, Myanmar, and immigrated to U. S. and became a naturalized U. S. Citizen.

Alex studied at the Woodrow Wilson High School. Then, he attended Brown University and earned a graduate degree in 1999. Alex majored in history and literature at Brown University.

Wagner initially served at the Center for American Progress as a cultural correspondent. Then in 2003, she started working for The Fader magazine as editor-in-chief. There, she covered music and cultural movements from all over the world until 2007. Afterward, she worked for an advocacy organization, Not On Our Watch Project as executive director.

Wagner continued her journalism career by working at a political news magazine, Politics Daily. She served as the White House correspondent for the political news magazine. Then, she joined The Huffington Post. Afterward, she worked as an analyst on MSNBC and appeared on the shows “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” and “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”.

Alex started serving as a host of MSNBC’s show “Now with Alex Wagner” in November 2011. The MSNBC President, Phil Griffin announced in July 2015 that her show had been canceled to transition into more breaking news reporting. Wagner was later announced as a host of the weekend program by MSNBC. However, the weekend program’s plans never happened. Then in April 2016, the American magazine, The Atlantic made an announcement that Wagner would be joining them as a senior editor and would leave MSNBC.

Wagner took a step toward her new journey by replacing Vinita Nair on CBS’ morning TV program “CBS This Morning Saturday” in November 2016. She appeared on the TV show for the last time in March 2018. Alex also confirmed that she would leave CBS and would be co-hosting The Circus for Showtime. Alex worked on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House in March 2021.

Wagner filled in on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show for Rachel Maddow in February 2022. At the same time, she also filled in on All In with Chris Hayes for Chris Hayes. Rachel Maddow eventually stepped back from her weeknight hosting duties in June 2022. With that, Wagner was announced as a host to fill in Maddow’s 9 PM slots.
