Early Life

Justin Holiday was born on the 5th of April 1989 in Mission Hills, California. He was born to Toya and Shawn Holiday. His father and mother, both played college basketball at Arizona State. Justin’s mom, Toya was in fact named Pac-10 Player of the year in the year 1982.

For his study, he joined the Campbell Hall School. He led his high school team to a 33-1 record in his senior year. In addition to that, he also led his team to the State Class IV championship. Then, he attended the University of Washington. He played sparingly for the Washington team, the Huskies. He increased his production, playing time, and role for the Huskies in his sophomore season. Justin appeared in 35 games playing for Huskies where he made an average of 2.1 points.

Holiday was named to the 2010 Pac-10 All-Defensive Team in junior season. As he entered the senior season, the Huskies made him the team’s co-captain. After going undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft, he was signed by the Belgian professional basketball club, Okapi Allstar. He played as a starter for the Belgian team.

Justin then joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in July 2012. He was signed by the team in October 2012 for the 2012 NBA Summer League. However, he didn’t play for the team as he was waived by the Cavaliers on October 10, 2012. Just after 2 days, the Portland Trail Blazers claimed him off waivers. Nevertheless, he was waived by the Blazers on October 27. Afterward, he was acquired by the Idaho Stampede on October 31. He made his debut for Stampede on November 28 against the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

In April 2013, he was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers. He played his first game for the 76ers against the Charlotte Bobcats, where he recorded 2 points and 2 rebounds in 7 minutes. Then, he was named to the All-Defensive Second Team and the All-NBA D-League Third Team. The 76ers later waived him on August 14, 2013. Then, he was signed by the Utah Jazz. Though, he was waived by Jazz after playing 7 preseason games.

Holiday started playing for the Golden State Warriors in July 2014 for the 2014 NBA Summer League. The Warriors signed him on September 8, 2014. In November, he was assigned to the new team, the Santa Cruz Warriors. However, the Warriors recalled him the very next day. He played 59 games for the Warriors in 2014-2015 and made an average of 4.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in each game.

Justin was traded to the Chicago Bulls in February 2016. Then he was traded to the New York Knicks in June 2016. He was signed by the Chicago Bulls in July 2017. Justin made a career-best seven 3-points for the Bulls against the Miami Heat in January 2018. Afterward, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in January 2019.
