Early life
Tekashi69’s real name is Daniel Hernandez and was born in New York City on the 8th of May, 1996 to his parents, Daniel Hernandez, Sr., and Perez-Hernandez. His dad used to work as a house cleaner and factory worker. Tekashi69’s mom is originally from Puerto Rico, who came to the U. S. in 1988 in a search of better life and opportunities.
Hernandez aka 69 was earlier more involved in sports. He has in fact played soccer and baseball throughout his youth. When he was 13, he was assigned to a major league soccer team, however, his mother didn’t allow him to join the team. He grew up with his older brother named Oscar Osiris Hernandez.
Tekashi69 and his brother were raised in a church, and he used to sing and read from the Bible many times. He studied at Public School 59 for middle school education and later joined Legacy High School to pursue a high school degree. However, he quit high school when he was studying in 10th grade.
Hernandez experienced a poor financial status in the past as his mother was all alone who was providing the financial support. His biological father had a heroin addiction and he was serving in prison. Likewise, his stepdad was shot dead in 2010.

Tekashi69 had earlier taken various jobs where he worked as a delivery boy and a busy boy. He even worked at a grocery store to provide financial support to his mom. In 2012, he decided to rap for the first time after meeting the CEO of a New York record label, Peter Righteous P Rodgers. In 2014, he released various rap songs such as “69”, “Pimpin”, “Who The Fu** Is You” and “4769”. He earlier came up with the stage name “Tekashi69”, which he adapted from Japanese anime. The 69 represents the yin-yang symbol and the 69 sex position.
Tekashi69 went viral on Twitter and Reddit after he shared an Instagram post in July 2017. On November 10, 2017, he released his commercial debut song titled “Gummo”, which peaked at No. 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was also certified platinum by the RIAA. Tekashi69 released his debut mixtape titled “Day69” on February 23, 2018. In July 2018, he was featured on Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz’s song “Fefe”. The song received wide applause from the audience, and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 100.
Tekashi69 continued his successful music journey by releasing his debut studio album titled “Dummy Boy” on November 27, 2018. Although the album received a positive response from music lovers, it failed to impress critics. He signed a 2 album contract deal with his record label 10K Projects in October 2019. On September 4, 2020, he released his second studio album titled “Tattle Tales”. Besides his musical contributions, he was profiled in a documentary movie titled “69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez” in November 2020.

Tekashi69 is currently dating a lady named Jade. He started dating her just before few weeks before he headed to jail at the end of 2018. Jade’s real name is Rachel Watley, and she uses the Instagram account @_ohsoyoujade. Tekashi69 has two daughters from his previous relationship. His first daughter, Sara Molina was born when he was dating Saraiyah Hernandez, and his second daughter, Briella Iris Hernandez was born with his former girlfriend, Marlayna M.
Tekashi69 has been surrounded by legal issues many times. In 2015, he was charged with 3 counts of having physical contact with 13-year minor girl. Likewise, he was arrested in July 2018 after choking a 16-year-old teenager in The Galleria shopping mall. In June 2018, he was confirmed to be involved in firing the rapper, Chief Keef outside the W Hotel. In November 2018, he was charged with firearm and federal RICO charges, and after pleading guilty on 9 charges, he was sent to prison on January 24, 2020.
